The development of the Shannon Community Plan is gaining momentum, driven by strong community support during the Long Term Plan 2024-2044. This enthusiasm made it a top priority for Council.
Progress So Far
The journey began with Council and Ngāti Whakatere inviting Shannon residents to a launch event at Whakawehi marae, where the foundation for the plan was laid.
Following this, Council, iwi, and the Shannon community gathered for the first workshop at the Shannon Memorial Hall on 21 November 2024. Discussions focused on forming a Working Group, identifying other ways for people to get involved, and exploring the most effective ways to engage with the wider community.
Building on this progress, the second workshop at the Shannon Library on 5 December 2024 focused on advancing discussions and exploring ideas for an engagement plan to seek feedback from the wider community.
Have Your Say
Now it’s your turn! We’re seeking your ideas, insights, and vision for Shannon’s future. Your feedback is a crucial step in understanding what matters most to you and will help shape the community plan.
Feedback closes at 4pm on Monday 24 February 2025. This input will guide the development of the community plan, which will be shared with the community later in 2025 for further feedback.
Please note: This survey is for gathering information and is not part of a formal consultation process.
